Introducing Alphalog: The Trading Journal Built for Serious Investors

We built the trading journal we always wanted. Here's why Alphalog exists, what it does, and where it's going.

Every serious trader eventually hits the same wall: spreadsheets that don't scale, brokerage apps that show data but no insight, and journals that are too manual to actually maintain. We built Alphalog because we were frustrated with all of them.

Why another trading journal?

The trading tools that exist today fall into two categories. There are the broker-provided dashboards: clean, real-time, but shallow. They show you what happened, not why it happened or what to do about it. And there are the dedicated trading journals, most of which require you to log every trade by hand, with no connection to your actual account data.

Alphalog is built around a different assumption: a trading journal should be connected to your reality.

That means automatic trade import from your brokerage. It means a performance analysis that actually breaks down your edge by strategy. It means a research layer that gives you the fundamental data you need before you enter a position, not after.

What Alphalog does today

In beta, Alphalog covers the full lifecycle of a trade:

Before the trade: Research any ticker with Stock Intelligence, a 100-point evaluation across business quality, management, financial health, and valuation. Add earnings history, guidance stance, analyst estimates, and social sentiment to complete the picture.

Logging the trade: Connect your brokerage and trades import automatically. Or log manually with full support for stocks, options, and futures. Every trade gets a notes field, strategy tag, and optional diary entry.

After the trade: Your analytics dashboard tracks P&L, win rate, profit factor, and equity curve, broken down by strategy, ticker, and time period. The calendar view gives you a heat map of your activity and results.

What's coming next

Alphalog is in beta and growing fast. On the roadmap:

  • Mobile app: A companion app for logging and reviewing trades on the go
  • Alerts: Get notified when a watched ticker hits a sentiment threshold or earnings date
  • AI journaling: Surface patterns in your diary entries and surface what to review
  • Team accounts: Built for prop firms and trading groups

Frequently asked questions

What is Alphalog? Alphalog is the all-in-one trading journal for serious traders and investors. It combines automatic broker sync, AI trade audits, pattern mining, strategy backtesting, and stock research in one product so traders can stop alt-tabbing between five different tools.

Which brokers does Alphalog support? Alphalog has direct OAuth/API integrations with Charles Schwab, Tastytrade, Alpaca, TradeStation, and Interactive Brokers (Flex). Another 24 brokerages, banks, and crypto exchanges are supported through Alphalog Broker Connection. CSV import is always available.

Is Alphalog free to use? Every new account gets a 14-day Pro trial on signup with no credit card required. After the trial, the Free tier supports up to 50 trades/month with the journal, diary, calendar, and basic analytics. Pro and Elite tiers unlock broker sync, the full AI suite, and the complete research layer.

Does Alphalog support options trading? Yes. Multi-leg options trades sync from your broker as one strategy with full attribution — not orphaned legs — and Alphalog's analytics break down win rate and profit factor by strategy type (covered call, vertical spread, iron condor, etc.).

How is Alphalog different from a spreadsheet? A spreadsheet requires manual entry every time you trade and gives you no analysis you didn't build yourself. Alphalog connects to your broker, imports trades automatically, audits every trade for cognitive bias, mines your history for profitable patterns, and gives you a 100-point fundamental scorecard for every ticker — all in one product.
